1. Alleged N2.5bn Fraud: ICPC Asks Lai Mohammed To Appear In Court
The immediate past Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, has been asked by the Independent Corrupt Practice and other related offences Commission (ICPC) to appear at Federal High Court in Abuja over an alleged N2.5 billion fraud case involving the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC). Concise News reports that ICPC is prosecuting Ishaq Modibbo Kawu, NBC Director General, over “abuse of office and money laundering”.
2. ECOWAS Reacts To Ethiopia Failed Coup Attempt
The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) on Thursday condemned the coup attempt in Ethiopia. ECOWAS Chairman, President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria, in a statement in Abuja, expressed sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims of the coup attempt, as well as the people and government of Ethiopia. Buhari said the commission was committed to the ideals of the African Union on Democracy, Elections and Good Governance adopted at the 8th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in 2007.
3. Only Six Parties Endorsed 2019 Presidential Election – IPAC
The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has said that only six political parties endorsed the 2019 presidential election that culminated in the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari. Presidential Election Petition Tribunal on Thursday dismissed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and President Muhammadu Buhari’s bid to have the petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM) and its presidential candidate in February 23, 2019, Pastor Haminchi Habu thrown out. By their petition, Habu and the PDM are challenging the victory of Buhari and his All Progressives Congress at the poll.

Nigeria’s Vice-President, Yemi Osinbanjo, and his United States equivalent, Mike Pence, discussed economic ties between Africa’s most populous nation and the superpower. He said this on Thursday in Abuja when he received the report on the impact of the African Continental Free Trade Area agreement. An FCT High Court, Maitama, on Thursday reserved ruling in the application filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), to join the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President, Amaju Pinnick, and Secretary-General, Dr Mohammed Sanusi, in the alleged misappropriation of 9.5 million dollars FIFA grant. Concise News reports that EFCC dragged three officials of the Federation before the court in an alleged 9.5 million dollars FIFA grant misappropriation before applying on April 30 to join both Pinnick and Sanusi in the matter as co-defendants.
