Super Eagles midfielder John Ogu has vowed that the team will win Tunisia in the third place game at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Nigeria lost out 2-1 to Algeria in a semi-final match at the 2019 AFCON on Sunday and will take on the Carthage Eagles in the third place playoff on Wednesday.

Speaking ahead of the clash, Ogu, a former Hapoel BeerSheva star, expressed sadness at the loss to Algeria.

He, however, said the team are determined to leave Egypt with “something,”  a metaphor for winning the bronze medal.

“We need to really go back and work so as to make sure we leave this country with something,” he told Brila FM.

“The match against Tunisia is very important for us, and we need to be sure we get something out of it.”

He admitted that “Everyone is sad, but what can we do? We just need to focus and prepare for the game against Tunisia.”
